THE
LOS ANGELES TIMES wrote at length about Hollywood Correspondent
GAYL MURPHY both times she traveled to the PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF
CHINA to report on the state of pop music there. The newspaper affectionately
characterized her as "the peripatetic entertainment reporter"
that she is, and then wrote about her again when she "happily
went to 'the wall' for rock 'n' roll in Berlin" after she filed
a series of radio features on the emerging music scene in a newly
reunified Germany.
In
addition to assignments in Beijing, Shanghai and Berlin, MURPHY'S
travels in broadcasting have taken her throughout Europe, Canada,
Mexico, the Caribbean and Japan. In her on-air career, which spans
20-years, Murphy estimates she's conducted more than 10,000 celebrity
interviews.
Murphy's news features, commentary and celebrity interviews have
appeared on TV, radio and in print worldwide. Currently, she works
with the BBC News bureau in Los Angeles, appears frequently as a
Hollywood correspondent for the British TV show; The Liquid News,
gathers celebrity interviews for Sirius Satellite Radio and authors
the column Spotlight on Hollywood for the UK magazine Ultimate DVD.
Murphy was also a frequent contributor to mrshowbiz.com and wallofsound.com.

Murphy's
career on-air began in The City of Angeles, after wrangling her
way on to the airwaves at KROQ as the lovely and talented German
dominatrix Greta La Gumbo on "The Young Marquis Show. "
After
leaving her black leather corset behind, Murphy jumped the dial
to KWST and became their "Traffic Tootsie," complete with
a '57 Chevy. After KWST she decided to settle down for awhile and
landed at KLOS and ABC Rock Radio Network for the next 17 years.
At KLOS Murphy created her persona as LA's first and only, On-Air
Backstage Entertainment Reporter - regularly broadcasting live from
huge rock concerts and entertainment events throughout Southern
California. For the ABC Networks Murphy did interviews and feature
reporting on films, television and popular culture.

It
was Murphy's strong radio presence and persona that motivated The
Hollywood Reporter to label her the "media veteran" she
is, and Performance Magazine to sum her up as a "mainstay"
and "One of this town's only on-air reporters covering the
Hollywood scene!"
For her contributions in public service broadcasting, MURPHY took
top honors with a SUNNY Award from the Southern California Broadcasters
Association. She's also the recipient of two Certificates of Merit
Awards from the County of Los Angeles and two Finalist Awards from
the International Radio Festival of New York.
Murphy
is a member in good standing of The Broadcast Film Critics Association,
American Federation of Television and Radio Artists and The Screen
Actors Guild.
